Everything is so tasty and fresh! This was my first time trying Middle Eastern desserts and I was pleasantly surprised. And it's really affordable!
Had the most fun talking to and watching the girl make my order. It was absolutely delicious. Going back again this week.
The shop owner is always super attentive and really takes care of the customers. I haven't found anything on this store that I do not like. Their petitfor melt on your mouth with an explosion of flavors that is hard to describe. The barazek reminds me of home (México), their date cookies, ghraybeh and tea biscuits make me want to have a cup of coffee or tea but alone they are outstanding. Now their baklava... I moved here from Michigan and I can say this bakery know what it's doing. If you are for some sweets this is the spot to hit! I've also tried their spinach and feta cheese pies and they were on point. I cannot recommend this place enough.
If you're looking for middle eastern treats, this is the place. Everything is delicious and the staff make you feel like friends. We have family in Dearborn and this rivals anything you'll find there. The baklava is my favorite, but the new addition of Dubai Chocolate is definitely a treat you don't want to miss. You can order ahead savory items too, especially if you want several. I've only had a few, but they all taste homemade. If you see Turkish Delight and think it's not your thing, give them a try. They make some more unusual flavors that might tempt you. From rose to Oreo. Be adventurous. Go try it. You know you want to.
Absolutely delicious!! Super kind service!! The owner is friendly and one can see how much he cares about his craft in the way he describes each item, offers to taste, and the presentation of the store. On our way from Chicago to South Carolina and Florida we stopped in Lexington and I had to try this highly-rated bakery. I stumbled into Al-Taj while looking for artesian bread and twisted my husband’s arm to make a stop before our resting destination in town. My husband patiently waited in the car as I talked with the owner and selected various goodies. The owner was very polite and helpful, we had a delightful conversation and generously offered me two cups of Arabic coffee, one for my husband. The coffee was delicious, bold, and strong. The menu is extensive and they will prepare food when ordering. I was in a bit of a rush, trying to be considerate of my husband, so I selected items that were already prepared. So far the few treats that I had this evening were delectable - baklava, Fresh Baklava with cream ( وربات بالقشطة ), and various types of Turkish Delight (pistachio and caramel). I'm looking forward to tasting the rest tomorrow - Fresh dates cookies, Ghee cookies, Oreo Turkish Delight, and some savory items Fresh spinach pie with feta cheese and spinach pie with pomegranate molasses. So far Excellent all-around experience. I'm so glad I leave 6.5 hours away, otherwise I'll be in big trouble Oh yea I have to go back tomorrow to try the Fresh semolina cake!
My friend and I went later in the evening, closer to closing time, so the selection was limited due to it being so late in the day. However everything was still so fresh and tasty it was clear it had been made fresh that day. We sampled some Turkish delight, of which there were tons of different flavors. We purchased the pistachio baklava, date cookies, and Dubai chocolate (one milk and one dark). Everything we tried was something I hadn’t had before, and each item was completely delicious. I ended up getting more baklava to take home to share! The Dubai chocolate lives up to the hype, the milk chocolate variety they had when I was there comes in these very cute flower designs, they had large chocolate bars as well. The crunchy filling was so unique and tasty. Definitely recommend, and worth the price I paid. The girl working at the counter was so friendly and kind and helpful. Loved the atmosphere, will definitely be returning!
Great little bakery with many delicious options. The bird nest dessert was amazing! Awesome customer service too! So helpful and friendly and let us sample items. Will definitely go back again.
Took my niece here today for a Dubai strawberry cup and she loved it! She especially loved seeing the “chocolate fountain” as her cup was being made…I got the Dubai dark chocolate bar as well and it was so good, with a lot of tasty filling! Owner was a pleasure to talk to as well, a must try if you’re in the Lexington area!
I came here for the first time today and was greeted right as I walked in by Kristen, she was so sweet and was happy to explain what all the treats were made of and how they are made from all natural ingredients! The Turkish delights are so delicious and the service is impeccable. It's rare these days to walk into a shop and feel so welcomed as soon as you come through the door. The baklava is the best I have ever had and is truly authentic. I can't believe I overlooked this shop for so long and I'm so glad I decided to pop in and see what they had in store. Can't recommend this place enough! 😇
This was my first time visiting Al Taj, bakery visiting from out of town and I was so excited to find this place ! And guess what it didn’t disappoint at all … I was so happy with my food I got the meat pie and the cheese with black seed pie لحمه و جبنه . The owner was extremely nice and friendly he went over and beyond for me and I appreciate it so much because I’ll definitely be back and recommending this bakery to everyone I know . Thank you for making my morning with this delicious breakfast! Btw he makes the viral Dubai chocolate 🍫 and it’s absolutely delicious 🤤
